Unguarded Moments: Backstage and Beyond will showcase photos from a time when artists like Billy Idol and Iggy Pop were making waves in the music scene. Backstage and in homes, Kereakes’ photos capture the moments in between the sell-out shows, giving regular everyday fans a glimpse into grandeur. Kereakes’ first photo shoot was for the legendary punk band The Germs, which pulled her into a world of music from the late ’70s Sunset Strip scene. The show will feature images of The Germs, Joan Jett, Billy Idol, The Cramps, The Ramones, The Dead Boys, Debbie Harry, and many, many more talented and influential artists.

Opening reception takes place from 5:00pm to 9:00pm on December 5th, 2008, at 154 N Prince St., Lancaster, PA.

Perhaps it’s pretentious to call your event the “most important art show in the United States,” but that’s exactly what Art Basel considers itself. The event will have an exclusive selection of more than 220 leading art galleries from USA, Canada, Europe, Latin America, and Asia, exhibiting 20th and 21st century artworks by more than 2,000 artists. Expect talks, panels, galleries, installations, international magazines, and practically everything one can think of related to arts!

Robert Fayze Pellicer seems to combine equal parts surrealism, nature, and spirituality in his works, such as in this piece, entitled Food Web.

Colors bleed, swirl, and transform to join forces with unpredictable shapes in Max Kauffman‘s The Block Is Hot.

Elliott Wall makes the simple female form intoxicatingly haunting and fascinating with ease, such as in this piece, Moth.

In the case of Eli Effenberger and this piece, Over The Rainbow, digital paints are just as good as the real thing.

Eatcho seems to prefer painting and drawing on recycled papers and wood panels, and for good reason. His illustrations and exceptional compositions exclusively hold their own, with no need for detailed backgrounds.

Sophie Franz, shown in the post below, will also be showing her illustrations and drawings at this group show.
